Rewriting your Story

Once upon a time, long ago we were born into family systems, educational establishments, religious affiliations, and societal expectations which encouraged us to conform to their dysfunctional norms. Similar to bugs going towards the light, we followed in their footsteps believing they held the one and only truth. We have spent our lives climbing our own personal mountains carrying this heavy load with us. Hasn’t the time come for us to unload our outdated backpacks and pick up our new light wings to fly into our greatness?

Before you take another step, just say yes. You don’t have to analyze how; you just have to be willing to let go. You can change directions and rewrite your story, right here, right now.

Yesterday, while attending Unity Spiritual Center of Denver, the Spiritual Leader asked, “What is your divine assignment”?

My written response was, “My Divine assignment is to be the divine voice and hands of God who has come to earth to empower and inspire others to spread their wings and fly living a life of greatness. No matter if I’m writing, singing, or speaking, I am the light, love, peace, power, presence, and joy of God. All that is good flows to and from me. I am connected to Self, others, and the world by the light of God’s love.”

What is the one precious thing you choose to do with your life?

Why are you here?

Are you living the life you were born to live?

No matter how one says it, we have a choice. We can rewrite our story anew in every moment of every day. The old story can be discarded like a draft of an email. We don’t have to live that script. We can change words, phrases, paragraphs, and pages. We can live our futures and our dreams. We can let go of the old life, behaviors, and beliefs and toss them to the wind.

I challenge you to follow these three steps to rewrite your story.

#1. Take a small piece of paper and write down your old script that you don’t need any longer. Write as many scripts down as you’re compelled to write. Once you’re complete, lovingly gather and place them into a container, light a match, and watch them burn.

#2. Spend some time and write a letter to yourself and/or God answering the following questions.

How do you see yourself Being and evolving this year?

What is your divine assignment?

What is it that you’ve come to earth to do?

What is your new life story?

These are your grounding gems, precious and bright, holding and centering you for your upcoming year.

#3. Put this letter in an envelope with your name and address and give this to a friend. Ask your friend to mail your letter back to you in six months. You have a choice if you tell them or not what your letter contains. It’s really for your eyes only.

I challenge, encourage, and not so gently nudge you to make this year, 2024, the year you commit to changing the way you see and changing the way you live.
