A Perfect Day
As I fell asleep on Saturday night last week, I reflected, “This was a perfect day“.
The day began with my famous smoothie-See below for recipe-writing in my journal, meditating, then, a walk with my Seeing Eye dog. By then, the temperature was in the 70’s, the sun was shining, and the birds were singing their morning songs. We didn’t walk too far for I was recovering from a pulled back. However, we went just far enough to get her some exercise and for me to try my wings in walking after several days of being confined to my recliner.
Next, a long-time friend came by and picked us up for lunch. As we sat outside on the patio of our favorite restaurant, we sipped peach iced tea and ate veggie sandwiches, delicious salads, and an amazing vegan chocolate-coconut-raisin muffin. We chatted about good friends in our lives, family loved ones, great books to read, and how to make salads in a mason jar! As we breathed in the fresh air we basked in the warmth of the sun and our love for one another!
In my apartment later that evening, I turned on the classical radio station via Alexa, made a large bowl of popcorn, and settled in my recliner to continue reading the book of the day.
As I laid my head down to sleep that night, I reflected on what a perfect day I had had exercise, good food, good friends, and beautiful weather-who could ask for anything more?
When is the last time you’ve had your own perfect day?
Last week?
Last month?
Last year?
If it’s been a while, you might want to schedule some time for your own spontaneous perfect day!
Go for a stroll
Take a nap
Put your feet in a stream
Fly a kite
Toss a ball for a child
Turn the radio on and sing
Dance without inhibitions
Bake a batch of brownies
Julia Cameron, author of The Artists Way says we all should have date nights once a week with ourselves. We can’t output 24/7. We have to schedule a time to input too. So, if it’s been a day or three since you’ve given yourself some much-desired time, take two hours this week to do something creative, fun, and kid-like. Create your own perfect day! If money were no object:
What would your perfect day look like?
Where would you go?
What would you do?
Who would you do it with?
If you take time to recharge your batteries regularly, you will change the way you see and change the way you live!
