The Fung Shui Challenge
This week, a friend of mine told me about a Fung Shui challenge she had learned about from a Louise Hay webinar. She explained that the premise was that for twenty-seven days you cleared out nine items from your home. I told her, “That’s impossible for me to do, I clear out clothes and other unwanted stuff all the time.”
“I thought so too until I tried it! … You’ll be amazed of all the little stuff you have.”
Taking the challenge, for the past three days I’ve been clearing out stuff that I happen to touch and decide if I want it in my life or not. After all, how many spatulas do I really need? One person, one spatula. I’m elated! By clearing out at least nine items per day, I’ve noticed my psyche feeling lighter, and I’m looking forward to tomorrow and to the next drawer, desk, or closet.
What about you?
Are you hanging onto stuff you don’t need?
Got any CDs or even records you no longer listen to?
Technology that is out-of-date?
Kitchen utensils you don’t use?
Medicines that are outdated?
Garden supplies that are getting rusty?
Desk drawers and papers that need clearing out?
Clothes you no longer wear?
The great thing about this Fung Shui challenge is, that you only have to discard nine items—small or large—per day! This could be nine pieces of paper! Five pairs of socks! Three scrunchies, and six plastic bags! And, you only have to do this for twenty-seven days! By moving your physical energy, you’ll not only get rid of the clutter in your life, you’ll make room for new possibilities which will flow easily to you.
I know this sounds crazy; however, haven’t you ever noticed that you feel better when you make your bed or get dressed compared to the days when you hang out in your pajamas? Or, haven’t you noticed you feel better when your kitchen is cleaned, laundry put away, and your floors are vacuumed compared to leaving these tasks until later?
The feeling you get by cleaning out the extra stuff in your life is even better! It comes down to what you want versus what you need? As Americans, we want everything, just like we want to eat the whole pie; however, we don’t need everything just like we only need a small piece of the pie. When you are going through your stuff, ask yourself:
When is the last time I’ve used/worn this?
Does this provide me artistic pleasure?
Does it serve a functional purpose?
Is this providing me with a want or a need?
By taking this Fung Shui challenge you’ll reignite your passion; for energy begats energy. By trying this on, you’ll change the way you see, and change the way you live.
