Who’s in Charge?
Thirty years ago, when I was in my Master’s program studying to be a psychotherapist, I learned that we have four components that make up our Selves: mind, body, spirit, and emotion. All four parts need to be in balance and harmony to live a happy, fulfilled life.
Our egos always want to have the power and to rule the nest—our brains—24/7. Its job is to say “You’re smarter than anyone else,” or, “You’re less than anyone else.” All day long it puts these false beliefs into our brains. Our job is to thank them for sharing and to move on, replacing the unwanted negative messages with positive ones.
For you see, our mind doesn’t know the difference between past and present. If we are living in worry, doubt, pain, lack, we are in the past which feeds into the ego believing we aren’t good enough. Pretty soon, we are manifesting more of these type of thoughts into our daily lives. If we can switch that voice off and fill ourselves with the positive messages, then our brain will start to believe and see that vision of ourselves. Positivity creates destiny.
Too many times we get sucked into the belief that “This is the way we are,” “We can’t change our circumstances,” “It is what it is.” This is not true!
As you read this and thinking about your life, who is in charge—mind, body, spirit, emotions?
What if we could change the way we see and live our current circumstances?
Do you have goals that are written down?
Do you read them morning and night?
For, whatever your brain is thinking about, it will bring about. More and more the learnings brought about by all the authors in the movie “The Secret” are becoming scientific fact and common knowledge. Speak positively to a plant and it will bud; however, hate it and the plant will die. We are no different! Believe those negative messages from our egos and we will remain stuck into our past; however, wave the magic wand of positivity and we will go forth and create our dreams. And, it’s not just reading our goals, it’s believing and feeling them in our bodies, and visualizing them daily that will create today’s dreams into our tomorrow’s reality.
Let’s go on a journey. Everyone wants to lose weight, right? Instead of just wanting that ten pounds off, let’s visualize your world with that (fill in the number) pounds off. … I am ten-pounds thinner! I am wearing the most beautiful dress imaginable. It’s flowing, slimming, and people compliment me on how this flatters my body. I feel good! My body is strong, vibrant, and alive! I move with ease! My body allows me to do any activity I desire. I am happy and confident. I feel like I can conquer the world. If I can do this, then, I can do anything!
If you can visualize It, believe It, and feel It, then pretty soon you will have It. I challenge you to write and read your goals out loud every day! And, I further challenge you to read ten pages a day in positive Self-help books. Here’s a list to get you started.
