Time Flies By!
Have you heard the saying that time stops for no one?
I have. And, I’ve noticed myself saying things like, if my mom were alive, she’d be 92 years old. My dad would be 95, and my Grandma (that’d be ridiculous) 118! ? Not to mention me, turning 70 in a few weeks! Yikes!

Gary Shapiro was the anchor on channel 9 for 39 years and recently retired on Friday, December 9, 2022. He covered various types of stories including the shuttle explosion in 1986, the pope’s visit in 1994, the Columbine shootings in 1999, and the Trade Center bombing on September 11, 2001. He was warm, genuine, funny, and seemed like he’d be a nice brother, father, and grandfather. The attributes that came in from current and former anchors were touching. I watched the final show from 5 am until 9 am; wanting to hear every word uttered from his lips. I’d been listening to Gary on the morning show my entire Colorado life. And, if you do the math, that means I’ve been watching him since I was thirty years old!
Amazing! Amazing that I was 30 when I came here! Amazing I’m going to be 70! Amazing I’ve been watching all this time!

And, last week, the anchor on the news reported on the Antarctic and how its melting will soon cause the earth to not be able to regulate its temperatures. I think he said we’re losing 20% every year? That can’t be right, can it? That’d mean devastation in five years.
Time flies by!
Can we do anything about it?
Nope. We can’t stop ourselves and others from getting older, nor can we stop global changes; however, we can do our part to take care of ourselves and the planet. We can be present and make the most of every moment with our friends and families. We can commit to eating right, exercising, and going to the doctor when we feel like something is off. We can recycle, compost, cut down on water usage, only buy products in glass containers, purchase electric cars and lawnmowers, and if I were to go out on a limb—go vegan to save on the gases emitted by the cows which affects air pollution.
We can’t stop time; however, we can make a difference in our actions and behaviors.
What’s one thing that you can do today to assist your Self in mental and physical longevity?
What can you do today to assist the planet?
I challenge you, that before more time goes by, to make sure you’re proactive in your life. What we do or don’t do today creates who and what we are tomorrow. Savor the moments, be bold, and take action to change the way you see and change the way you live!
