A New Year Perspective
On December 28, 2022, I received an email from Mike Duley and his daily blog “The Universe” which caught my attention. In this short note he wrote:
“Gail, soon the new year starts, so now’s a great time to:
- Wipe the slate clean.
- Focus on what you really want.
- Chart your course.
Or is that a bit too old school? Feels tiring? Ugh!
How about an adventurous alternative:
- Give thanks that your life is exactly as it is.
- Decide that 2023 will be the happiest year of your life yet.
- Every day, follow your heart and instincts down new paths.
This will be your year, Gail. Love, The Universe.
I like that, Give thanks and gratitude that my life is exactly as it is, decide that 2023 will be the best year yet, and follow my heart.
Doesn’t this sound much easier than making resolutions that end up being should(s) lists not intentions? Or making endless to-do or goals lists that you never will accomplish in a million years, much less one?
What if we tuned into our intuition and followed our hearts?
What if we promised ourselves every day that this would be the best year yet?
And, what if we gave gratitude every day for everything from our health to our abundance?
Do you think we’d be happier?
Of course, neither Mike nor I can promise you the moon; however, we can probably say with certainty that going down this path couldn’t hurt. There’s zero harm in following your heart! Even if you make “mistakes” you’re still doing the best you can for that moment. Even if you run into bumps in the road and the year doesn’t feel like it may be the best year yet, this year and every year is in divine order. We don’t know the big picture. Finally, there are enough studies that have been done that say giving gratitude at all times for all things improves mood, circumstances, and outcomes.
So, as the year begins, why not make a resolution you can keep? How about taking the challenge to implement Mike’s three adventurous alternatives? How about trying to give gratitude, follow your heart, and pledge this will be the best year yet for thirty days and see how your life feels? Let’s agree to do this! Let’s pledge to change the way we see and change the way we live!
