Your Destiny, Your Way
When I competed for the Ms. Colorado Senior America crown in 2013, part of the guidelines was to have a 35-second philosophy of life. We had to proclaim our most passionate purposeful plan for women of elegance. Committed to memory, and integrated into my soul, mine goes like this:
“I believe my desire to fly must be bigger than my fear of falling. Vision is internal, not external, and is guided by my heart, not my eyes. In order to be free, and to fly, I must want my dream, feel my dream, and believe that my dream will come true. Most importantly, I must live my dream. I’m the creator of my destiny, the composer of my symphony, and I choose to live a life of greatness.”
What about you?
What is your life’s philosophy?
What is your destiny?
What is your passion and purpose?
As 2023 comes to a close, many people start to look back on their year; revisiting their goals and accomplishments. Shocked they forgot to read them before now discover their reality didn’t and doesn’t match with their intentions! Does this sound familiar?
Disappointed, they beat themselves up for not being perfect. They turn their attention to next year and vow to do better! Yet, they do the same insane behaviors and processes as they did before, and this time, like before, they expect different results!
What’s wrong with this picture?
I believe when we’re in alignment with God/spirit/ourselves when we have a positive attitude of gratitude, and when we take action, we can chart and go toward our destinies.
Furthermore, I believe people get stuck in their never-ending “how’s”.
How am I going to lose weight?
How am I going to get a new job?
How am I going to find the relationship of my dreams?
How indeed?
The trick is to let go of the “how” and let God/spirit/source (whatever you believe in) take care of that particular piece of the puzzle for you. Your only job is to follow your passion, live up to your potential, and commit to your purpose.
Every year I revisit my goals and vision statement. This statement is written in first person and future tense (one year from now); i.e., as if I’ve already achieved it. Then, daily, weekly, and/or monthly, I read my vision statement to see how I’m doing. I allow the words to sink into my psyche and soul. I let the “how” and the worry alone. I have faith everything is in divine order.
I challenge you to write your vision statement. If you need guidance, email me, and I’ll forward a copy of my statement to you for you to use as a template. Know too, my workbook, Soaring into Greatness: How to Live an Unstoppable, Unforgettable, and Unbelievable Life will be coming out soon. In this book, there’ll be details on “how” to write a vision statement, among other topics. For now, I’d like to encourage you to follow your destiny, purpose, and passion; choose to live a life of greatness; and change the way you see, and you’ll change the way you live!
