There’s a song I’m singing in the choir that says, “People all over the world, join hands, start a love train, love train.” This started my mind on a journey. What does love train mean?

At first, I was put off by the word train. When I think train, I think of a large hard metal vehicle with an engine in front with lots of cars behind. A love train did not make sense to me. Then, I deepened. What if I replace the word train with chain?

People all over the world, join hands, start a love chain, love chain. Now, I felt happier! I could sing this song and visualize people joining hands in love all over the world.

My mind continued down this track recalling the 1985 song, “We are the World” by Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson. We are the world, we are the children, people all over the world, join hands, start a love chain, love chain!

Gaining speed, the song, ” Strangest Dream” by Simon and Garfunkel popped into my head.

“Last night I had the strangest dream I ever dreamed before.
I dreamed the world had all agreed to put an end to war.
I dreamed I saw a mighty room the room was filled with men.
And the paper they were signing said they’d never fight again.
And when the papers all were signed and a million copies made.
They all joined hands and bowed their heads and grateful prayers were prayed.
And the people in the streets below were dancing round and round.
Guns and swords and uniforms lay scattered on the ground.
Last night I had the strangest dream I ever dreamed before.
I dreamed the world had all agreed to put an end to war”

You may be wondering where I’m traveling with all this.
Will this train ever stop?

No. Now that the love train has revved up its motor, the train will continue down the track around the globe uploading passengers until everyone is on board. Are you ready to hop on?

We are the world! We are the children! We all can join hands! We all can have the strangest dream! There’s no room in our hearts for hate if we’re coming from love, kindness, forgiveness, peace, and goodwill towards men! We have a choice! We can be a force and source of good, or, we can be a force and source of hate! Every moment of every day we have the power to love or not!

So, how do you choose to spend your one precious life?

I challenge you, that if you’re going to pick up a sword, then, pick up a love sword. Let’s all climb onto the love train! In this way, we will change the way we see.
