Ten Simple Gifts to Live By
Every now and then, Mike Dooley and his blog “The Universe” whisper reminders—simple truths that help us find our footing when life feels uncertain. On August 21, 2025, I received one of those whispers in the form of a list: The Top 10 Things About Time and Space That Are Easiest to Forget.
As I read them, I felt their power. These aren’t just “nice thoughts”—they are compass points that realign us with truth, freedom, and joy. Let’s explore them together:
- You chose to be here—and you knew what you were doing.
Life is no accident. Your soul made the bold choice to show up in this time, in this place, with these exact circumstances. You were prepared for the lessons and the love that would unfold.
- There are no “tests”—and you’re not being judged.
What a relief! Life is not a pass/fail exam. There’s no scorecard from above. There’s only growth, experience, and the gift of living fully.
- Everyone’s doing their best with what they know.
Compassion grows when we remember this. People may stumble, hurt, or disappoint us—but beneath it all, they’re navigating the best they can with the tools they have.
- You already have what you’re looking for.
Peace. Purpose. Love. They’re not outside of you, waiting to be found. They’ve been inside you all along, waiting to be embraced.
- You are of the Divine, and so is everyone else.
We often forget our true identity—divine sparks wrapped in human experience. And if that’s true for us, it’s true for everyone.
- Religion needs spirituality; spirituality does not need religion.
Spirituality is the root—our direct connection to Source. Religion can guide it, shape it, and give it form, but spirituality stands on its own.
- You’re naturally inclined to succeed—at everything you do.
Yes, you! Your very nature is aligned with growth and expansion. Success isn’t something you chase—it’s something you lean into by being your authentic self.
- You happen to life—life does not happen to you.
This one flips the script. You’re not a passive passenger—you’re a cocreator. Every choice, thought, and action writes your story.
- Order, healing, and love are present—even in chaos.
When the storm rages, it can be hard to see. Yet beneath the fear and pain, order is quietly restoring, healing is unfolding, and love never leaves.
- Following your heart is the best way to help others.
Not self-sacrifice, not duty, not guilt—your heart is the compass. When you honor it, you inspire others to do the same.
The truth really does set us free. These ten reminders aren’t lofty ideals—they are practical anchors. When life feels heavy, revisit them. Let them reawaken your courage, lighten your spirit, and remind you that you are deeply loved.
After all, as “The Universe” cheekily adds, coffee, tea, and chocolate are proof enough that you’re adored.
What truth spoke to you most today? Take it with you. Write it on a sticky note. Whisper it in prayer. Share it with someone who needs it. And most importantly, live it boldly—because the world needs your light. And, your light will change the way you see and change the way you live.
