People of the Light
If we are breathing, we are living on the planet Earth, right here, right now for a specific reason and purpose. History will dictate if we are the ones who are open to change. History will tell the story if we were the ones who could embrace the new.
Were we the ones who believed in infinite positivity and possibilities?
Were we the ones who could face fears?
Were we the ones who could grow, love, and live with joy?
Were we the ones who could give our all?
(Check out John Denver’s song Potter’s Wheel.)
We have a choice!
We can be People of the dark or people of the light.
When we are consumed and surrounded by darkness, seeing our future is challenging and difficult. We may stumble and/or fall! We may get hurt and/or lost. However, eventually, we must find our way. Eventually, we must turn on a nightlight to help guide us. We never live in total psychological, physical, or spiritual darkness! There is always a glimmer of light that expands like the dawn of a new day!
How do we find the light?
We rise up! We step into our boldness and greatness! We empower ourselves to be unstoppable, unforgettable, and unbelievable! As John Lewis said, we must cause “Good trouble!” Doing this even when external or internal circumstances seem daunting takes perseverance, courage, and determination! We have to be willing to come out of our darkness and step into our light. We have to be willing to return to who we are meant and born to be. We have to be willing to remember we are limitless and free! We have to be willing to recall our courageousness, our power, and our extraordinary ability to stand tall! We have to be willing to remember we are the creators of our destinies! We have to remember we are the people of the light!
Maybe because I’m the current president of my local Lion’s club, sometimes, I choose to think of myself with the qualities of a lioness. In this way, I remember who I am! I am brave! I am strong! I am proud! I am king (or queen) of the forest/my destiny. As people of light, we must make our voices heard! We must roar! Roar peace! Roar justice! Roar kindness! Roar love! As people of light, we must be the changers, the listeners, the champions! We must be willing to do what we have come here to do and that which is ours to do! I challenge you to roar with a gentle heart, to walk with a loving purpose, to speak with a truthful tongue, and to reach out with a compassionate hand. When we remember to be willing to be who we are, with the power, presence, love, and light of spirit, we will remember to change the way we see and change the way we live!
