Children are amazing! So full of joy, spontaneity, love, and acceptance. They play happily together with no lines of hate, separation, or division. Their friends are all colors, shapes, and abilities. Through their eyes, they only see love, humanity, and oneness.  

As adults, we forget what it’s like to be a child of light. We turn our focus outward toward family, friends, society, and career. We leave behind our creative joyful spirit. Our eyes dim to our real selves and unfortunately, we take on personas of who we think we should be.  

Isn’t it time we get back to the basics of who we were born to be?  

Isn’t it time to return to being children of light?  

1. We are love. We must have love for ourselves, love for others, and love for our planet. I used to know a spiritual leader who used to say, “There’s not a spot where God is not.” God/love is everywhere. If we’d turn our eyes toward love at all times, then, there’d be no room for hate, discord, fear, racism, war, or distrust. This is not easy! Yet, if love could move to the front of our consciousness, then, everything else could take a much-needed back seat.  

2. We are human. I believe being blind gives me a perspective unlike those who see. I don’t see people as black, white, brown, red, yellow, etc. I see people as having the same skin color. A lot of times, I forget (as if it matters) what color people’s skin tones are!  

Shouldn’t we all be this way? 

Aren’t we all one human race? 

Didn’t we all come from one color originally? 

Don’t we still have a trace of that original color within? 

Underneath our beautiful skin, we’re all one human race and family with the same thoughts, desires, dreams, expectations, pains, hopes, and failures. As a human race, we must evolve to see ourselves as beaming children of light, beautiful and bright! 

3. We are one. So much strife comes from the fact that we see ourselves as separate! When separate, we hold onto the belief we aren’t good enough! We aren’t lovable! We aren’t valuable! If we would just do this or that, then, all would be well! We are one! No one is more or less important than another! We are made of the same stuff, love and kindness. As a Unity creed says, “There is but one power and one presence in all the universe, God, the good, omnipotent.”  

We are love, human, and one. The challenge is to embrace this fully into our consciousness and try to come from this perspective. Be a child of light! Release whatever hate, anger, separateness, or prejudices you may have. Life is too short! The sooner we can embrace acting, loving, and living like children of light, the sooner the world can come from peace. I challenge you to come from love, to practice seeing everyone as one human race, and to recognize we are all one! “All for one and one for all!” Today, I challenge you to change the way you see and change the way you live.
