The Light We Carry Into the World
“In this sacred season of light, I pause in the stillness to remember the truth: Light is not only around me—it is me.
“As I open to this understanding, I recognize and affirm that light is my divine nature—steady, ever-present, and radiant even during the longest night. I am a beacon sharing my light with others. I see the light that we all are, that each of us possesses. It is this light that illuminates my path and the paths of those around me, supporting choices that bring greater love, belonging, and connection.
“I am awake to the beauty, joy, and possibility that is revealed. I am so grateful to know I am the light; grateful for all who know they are the light. And I am grateful beyond words for the brightness we bring to the world. And so it is.”

There is something holy about this time of year. Candles glow in windows, strings of lights shimmer on rooftops, and stars seem to hang a little lower over the earth. The nights stretch long, and in that darkness, our hearts lean toward brightness. We light trees, menorahs, and lanterns not only to decorate our spaces, but to remind ourselves of the truth whispered into every soul: Light lives here.
And not just here on the walls, or here in the sky—here in us.
When I take a moment to breathe into that truth, something in me steadies. I remember that no matter how many challenges swirl around, there is a brilliance within me that cannot be extinguished. The same spark that ignites dawn, that opens flowers, that sends comets flashing across the heavens—lives inside human hearts. Divine light choosing to express itself as you and me.
There are days when life feels heavy. Sorrow sits beside us, or fear tries to block the view. The world can appear so chaotic that we forget what we carry. Days like these are invitations to lean deeper into the truth. Rev. DeeAnn wrote: “Light is my divine nature—steady and ever present.”
Even when clouds gather.
Even when tears fall.
Even when the world feels like midnight.
Light never leaves. It waits. It glows quietly in the center of our being, ready to rise.
And when we choose to share that light—through a gentle word, a genuine smile, a hand reaching across the gap—we illuminate more than a moment. We remind others of their own brilliance. Light passed from one heart to another multiplies. It does not fade through giving—it expands.
Think of the times someone lifted you up with presence alone. They didn’t need perfect answers or polished speeches. They simply showed up radiant with kindness or peace or hope, and your inner light flickered back to life. We get to be that presence for one another.
Imagine what happens when more of us decide to live as lighthouses instead of bystanders. When we refuse to shrink in the face of darkness and instead shine brighter. When we see beyond differences and recognize something sacred in every person: a spark, a flame, a possibility.
That is how a world changes.
One heart lighting another.
One act of love ignites hope.
One courageous soul remembering who they are.
As we gather in this season of celebration, may each flickering candle remind us of the radiance we already possess. May we say yes to shining—not only when life feels easy, but also when shadows try to settle in. May we encourage the light in others, especially those who have forgotten it is inside them, too.
And may we wake each morning knowing that we walk as illumination.
You are the light.
I am the light.
We are the light the world needs.
Let’s be the light and change the way we see and change the way we live.
