Fall
The time to fall back,
The time to fall asleep,
The time to fall in love,
A time to breathe deep.
Fall is the time to enter inward into the Self,
To breathe a sigh,
The scorching hot rays of summer are gone,
It’s time to say goodbye.
The calm mild winds of Automn surround and enfold me like a warm blanket,
I breathe, soak it in, and relax,
There’s no rush, there’s no push,
Only the sound of leaves being swept into large plastic sacks.
A solo cricket chirp can be heard off yonder,
A lonely bird nearby squawks,
The leaves shimmer their reds and yellows,
And crunch under my feet as I walk.
Children roll in piles of leaves,
And jump in mounds of golden hay,
Costumes are created,
For that spooky candy day.
Pumpkin pancakes and coffee are served a plenty,
Pumpkin patches are overflowing,
Bread bakes in the oven smelling of cinnamon and spice,
Pumpkin candles are glowing.
Windows are open,
Popcorn and football await,
Pillows are plumped,
Hurry, don’t be late.
It’s fall,
Enjoy the bliss,
Winter will be here before you know it,
It’ll be on tomorrow’s kiss.
The leaves have danced, the winds have played,
Their gifts too brief to relive,
Yet in each fall, I find my rise—
And change the way I live.
