It Is Well with My Soul
There’s an old hymn that starts:
” When peace like a river, attendeth my way
When sorrows like sea billows roll
Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say
It is well, it is well, with my soul”.
This in essence means, no matter what is going on, all is well and as “it” should be. “God’s got this”, “Don’t sweat the small stuff”, “All is in divine order”.
No matter how you phrase the meaning, all is well in the big picture (big mind)!
Too many times we worry! Our human mind (small mind) thinks this is the way life is! We don’t have a choice! We can’t change a thing. However, what if our human mind has it wrong?
What if there’s a different picture or outcome?
Do you think we’d act or live any differently?
There’s another phrase that comes to mind which says “We’re all spiritual beings living in a human body.”
I don’t know about you, but I forget this at times. Again, we’re spiritual beings living in a human body. All this so-called life is temporary! All this worry, strife, and hard times are here for our spiritual growth.
The trick is, to keep everything in perspective. Let go! Let God! Be a pillar and an ambassador of peace!
When we’re so busy, busy, busy, doing, and doing, and doing, we have little time for Being! We’re not here on earth to work 9 to 5 then die! We’re here to love, be at peace, and experience life to the fullest, no matter what.
Stop with your busyness, take in a breath, and take in how you’d act if you were to live as a spiritual Being!
What would you do?
Where would you go?
How would your heart and soul be?
It is well with your soul. Breathe! Relax! You’re merely human; however, your true essence is a spiritual Being. Drop the human facade slide the wings of spirit on and see how they fit. Spirit will gently guide you toward a more calm, peaceful, loving life. As Aibileen Clark says in the movie The Help to Mae Mobly, “YOU is Kind. You is smart. You is important.” While you’re just so busy, busy, busy, doing and doing, be the person who is kind, smart, and important. Remember, all is well with your soul. And, when you remember this, you will change the way you see and change the way you live.
